Q. Are electrostatic air filters better than throw-away filters?

The average throw-away filter has an arrestance between 10% and 40%. ACI’s permanent, electrostatic, washable air filter has an arrestance of 97% (Ashrae Test 52-1-92). (Arrestance by definition is to seize or capture).

Not only does our electrostatic filter capture more particulates, but it is a renewable or “GREEN” product.

Q. Can better filtering in your home help address health concerns?

Yes. ACI’s electrostatic air filters are manufactured with an antimicrobial agent which inhibit bacteria, mold and fungi growth on the filter. Allergists recommend using electrostatic air filters for better dust control.

Q. Are all electrostatic air filters the same?

No. Some are constructed with foam in the middle which can deteriorate and offer only a 5 year warranty. Filters with polyester can clog up if not properly cleaned and offer a 10 year warranty. ACI’s electrostatic air filter is totally constructed of a lifetime polypropylene fabric media eliminating the previous mentioned concerns.

Q. What is the best way to clean the filter?

Because of the dust and grime the filter attracts and holds, it is recommended that you use G-Wizz Cleaner/Degreaser and rinse with your garden hose when needed. Cleaning should be done every 45-60 days depending upon the environment.

Q. Will there be less dust with an electrostatic air filter?

Yes, our electrostatic air filter has the ability to depth load within the filter, holding 145 grams of dust before needing to be cleaned. Q. Can Electrostatic Air Filter become restrictive and stressful on my air conditioning and heating unit?

ACI’s electrostatic air filter has a low .12 initial resistance and can not be too restrictive due to the design which also allows the filter to be cleaned like new every time. Electrostatic air filter with a .20 resistance or greater can restrict the airflow of your system.

Q. Can Electrostatic Air Filter made with an aluminum frame short themselves out?

No. Electrostatic air filter work on the principal of “static electricity” not “current electricity”. The filter media in our electrostatic air filter has an inherent charge throughout the entire filter, which is enhanced by air passing through it. Static electricity, by definition does not flow like a current, and therefore; can not be discharged into the filter frame.

Q. Can these filters help with my pets allergies?

Yes. Your house pets, cats and dogs, can suffer from allergies as humans do.

Q. Is it better to set my thermostat and then switch the “fan” to manual?

Yes, this allows the filter to continually clean and control your dust. If the air is not passing through the filter, it can not filter your air. The “fan” motor is small and does not consume much energy. The thermostat on manual can result in lower energy cost because your rooms will maintain a constant temperature and your compressor will not cycle as often.
